A quick glimpse of New Orleans

This is one of my favorite topics – New Orleans. There is a lot going on in the city right now; last weekend was the Super Bowl and this weekend is the final weekend of Mardi Gras. With all the excitement surrounding the city, I decided to write a post on a few of my favorite places there (there are so many). Here go’s:

Food

Jacques – Imo’s Cafe  – This is by far one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I always take friends when I’m there. They serve Cajun food and its delicious. Great atmosphere too.

Domilise’s Po-boys – Unreal shrimp, oyster, roast beef po-boys. My mouth is watering just thinking about them.

Cochon – This is the only place on the list that I haven’t actually been. I am dying to go here. I’ve heard so many incredible reviews. I have been to their sandwich/meat shop, The Butcher, which is right around the corner. Also delicious and a much more low key. Sooo yummy!

Galatoire’s – Galatoire’s has been a long tradition in my family. We always go there for special occasions, which is definitely one of the reasons I love it so much. They have amazing, fresh seafood. Their oysters Rockefeller is too good.

Elizabeth’s – Go to Elizabeth’s for brunch. Just do it. You will thank me. Elizabeth's Image

Bars/Music:

As I said, drive by – there are soo many places to go for good music. I’m just mentioning the tip of the iceberg.

Oak Street Wine Bar – This a great wine bar on Oak Street. They have live music on the weekends. Oak Street is a happening street. Maple Leaf (below) and Jacques-Imos (above) are all walking distance from each other. For an aggressive/amazing evening, eat at Jacques-Imos, go get a glass of wine from Oak, and see a show at Maple Leaf.

Maple Leaf Bar – This a small but wonderful place to go see live music. Rebirth makes frequent stops here as do many awesome jazz bands.

Tipitinas – Your always guaranteed a good time here. Galactic plays here during Mardi Gras/Jazz Fest/whenever their in town. They bring in some great bands and the vibe of the place is just awesome.

Frenchman Street – This is an entire street in the French Quarter. Basically all the bars have awesome live music. It’s an absolute must when your in town.

Go check out the NOLA charm.
